There once were four monks who decided to strictly meditate.
They agreed not to speak to each other for a month.
The first day went well.
But on the second day there were strange noises coming from the hut.
1rst monk exclaimed: “Ah…has someone entered my hut? It wasn’t locked.”
2ned monk turned his head and said, “You ah so bad. Did we not agree on keeping our silence during meditation? It’s been less than two days, and already you’ve accidentally broken your words.”
The 3rd monk smiled, “You’re still scolding him. Take a look, it’s not only him who has spoken you have too.”
The last monk sat there. Having seen all his fellow monks talking, he thought to himself, “Looks like I’m the only one who has yet to utter a word.”
So he parted his lips and spoke, “Take a look at this. You all really don’t know how to stick to our agreement. Only I have been keeping my silence and haven’t said anything yet.”
